A 20-year-old man ordered an Uber car to the Riverwalk at 7:57p.m., but the driver took him to Algiers instead explained Massey. The spokesperson said that when the passenger realized he was in the wrong spot, he got out of the car at which point and armed man walked up and forced him to hand over his cel-phone and credit cards.

Don't you have to give your social security number to sign up as a driver?

I predicted this just like Trump predicted the Brussels incident

Hope and prediction don't mean the same thing.

It's been a while since I signed up for it, but I think you do put down a ssn. The issue though with Uber is that since they are constantly recruiting drivers in every way possible, they are not nearly as thorough with background checks as you would think. Guys with criminal records are even capable of getting qualified.

Seems like such easy way to get arrested. All that drivers info is on uber's record

A guy stops and the victim assumes it is his uber so he asks to get in
The criminal robs him
Not exactly an Oceans 11 type plan

A guy I work with was just telling me how he signed up to be a driver in Houston. He had to shell out like 300 bucks for background checks aND stuff before he got approved. I know they check you out, so this has got to be an idiot driving, or a genius who knows how to get around them tracing him.

seems that would take some dumb luck for that plan to work out. Unless the dude was wasted or just not paying any attention what so ever

Well the passenger is a dumb duck. Uber gives you the plate #, name, and a picture of the car and driver.
Something tells me this is a lie or a setup to file a lawsuit against Uber.

They're already being sued for a shite ton of things.
Something major has to go down at this point for them to change anything.

My assumption is the tourist put in the wrong drop off location since the driver was cleared.
