That's on a court by court bases, smaller rural JP courts generally aren't interested in putting violations on your record if you talk to them and aren't a arse, they just want some money in my experience anyway. Big exception to that is if you have a CDL, your screwed if you have a CDL and get a ticket.

Nothing "goes on your insurance" it goes in your driving record. And if you don't give the insurance company a reason to run your record, they'll never know.
