quote:I live near Montgomery. My FB feed is full of the usual suspects, blaming the violence on Constitutional Carry. They are all saying that Montgomery needs stricter guns laws. Asking why the surrounding counties don't have a similar problem is completely lost on them. One dumbass even suggested that Montgomery and Birmingham were in "red" counties.
Maybe this isn’t a big deal to them? Culturally it fits. This might be how they want postgame get togethers to be.

quote:Old money left a long time ago. A few straglers still own nice houses in Old Cloverdale, but their numbers diminish almost everyday. Anybody with any money sends their kids to private school. When I moved to the area in 1999, I was surprised at how many private schools there were here. Didn't take me long to realize why. Chislom used to be where poor whites lived. They have pretty much been displaced.
Can you describe Montgomery’s demographic/social scene to me
Do a lot of the old money white families still live there? If they do where do they send kids to school? Is there a large population of lower class whites? How about Blacks with money?

Unreported by the MSM and gone completely in a week
I tested your theory.
I am using an Edge browser and the Bing search engine.
I typed the letters M, o, n, t, and g into the text box.
Bing auto filled the rest (Montgomery shooting).
I ran the search and quite a few "MSM" stories about this incident popped up.
Don’t be so obtuse.
It’s how prominent the reports are on the web including how often and how long it’s featured on front page with updates and new stories focusing on different aspects of the “problem culture”. How are the links titled? Eye catching or more vague.
Same for television news and tv news shows like 60 minutes or other. Also, how often it’s the lead story and advertised or whatever it’s called when they show teasers about what big stories are coming up after the show or game.
Similar for newspapers. Is it main headline on front page, on front page, or page 19 where they hide corrections to previously false stories based on unnamed sources?
As for your search I am sure bing has an idea on websites or topics you have visited. Also, it seems like the only time I hear about Montgomery is when it’s something bad. Shooting is probably heavily searched in general or even because this particular one isn’t pushed like other shootings causing more searches in google and bing. I can also find some auto search suggestions for stuff I am typing when very little comes up in the search results on the specific current topic. If it’s not something very rare when more known sites do come up I can also find some older stories mixed in with similar headlines or names of the report causing me to limit search to past day for something breaking.
Searching on the internet means you are actively looking for it. You never have to look for it when it fits the media’s politics and actually have to make an effort to an avoid seeing it too often.

Cloverdale hasn't changed much in the last 20 years. Only neighborhood I'd consider living in Montgomery. But yea on the rest.
