twitter is/was so entrenched in the news/media landscape that it was obvious it was never going anywhere

I'm considerably more surprised by Twitter leading Instagram in daily visitors, considering how Instagram has way more active users.

After looking at this list, I feel like I'm the only guy who still visits yahoo.com daily. It's my go to news aggregator.

Instagram is kind of dead. People don’t post anything anymore

I would say TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram as a distant third.

Apparently it's doing better than Reddit and Instagram, douche nozzle.

It's corporate media, they are no longer mainstream.

most people consider both Facebook and Instagram to be "declining" platforms. Not sure if they are the best benchmarks

That's a stupid comment. What should we compare it up against? Myspace? Parler? Gab? TRUTH? Google Plus? FriendFeed? Friendster? Yik Yak? Ning? Vine?

Considering the metric in the post is "traffic driven to domain via Google", I would say TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram as a distant third.

Yes. He's saying they come after Twitter regarding this metric.

Really? Seems a weird thing to compare reddit to Twitter.

no matter what narrative the media tries to sell you, anytime you’re reading an article about Twitter remember:

1) right after all of the job cuts and streamlining Elon did, the media and “ex Twitter employees” all claimed with certainty Twitter would crash and couldn’t be run. That never happened. The media proclaims things as facts, runs headlines, is wrong, and nothing ever happens.

2) it’s a fact that Twitter was hemorrhaging money and was in no way profitable or close to profitable when Elon bought it. No matter what Elon does, even if it does go under at some point in the coming years, that was what was going to happen anyway. Elon didn’t “ruin” anything, he’s either going to save it, pivot it, or it will flame out because it never had a profitable business model.

I know you're just a lame arse troll, but I'll waste a minute or two trying to explain it in your general direction so that maybe someone with a few more brain cells to rub together will catch it:

1. I genuinely don't care whether Twitter is failing or not. Doesn't affect me in the least.
2. A google redirect metric struck me as a bit odd, especially in including Facebook. Including Instagram is fine, but again, people consider it a declining platform.
3. If you're going to cherry pick the google redirect metric, comparing it against TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram would be a better comparison.
4. I have, literally, zero idea how Twitter would measure up against TikTok and Reddit in that metric. Doesn't matter to me. Twitter might be higher or lower. Don't care. I'm not advocating for or against Twitter.

Jackasses devolving into name-calling simply because I pointed out that the metric was a little wonky have had their IQs lowered to room temperature because they are eaten up by Team Politics.

That graphic specially says “website visits” aka desktop web or mobile web.

Instagram for sure gets the vast majority of its traffic via the App. That’s the reason TikTok isn’t on the list, for example.

The way that people engage with the two sites are obviously very different, but my assumption based on personal experience is that the way people initially access the sites during a given visit are likely similar. Do you have people who just browse both Twitter and Reddit from within the ecosystem? Of course. But I have to think both have massive amounts of traffic driven through pointed google searches.
