This visit is to introduce ourselves to the abused child. It starts with either a parent/guardian or counselor reaching out to B.A.C.A. to request help. Our mission is to help the child overcome their fear and hopefully resume whatever semblance of a normal childhood they can. Usually kids referred to B.A.C.A. have an open court case against their abuser. So on the first visit, every member of their local B.A.C.A. chapter rides to the child's home. The child is presented with their own little B.A.C.A. cut (vest), a teddy bear, and have two patch holding members assigned as their "primaries". The child is now a part of the B.A.C.A. family and under our protection. From that point on those two members maintain contact with that child, available 24/7 anytime that child is scared or just needs to talk. If the child needs, we will escort them to school, the store, or wherever. When the child go to court, we also go with the child to give them a sense of security to know that nobody will get through us to harm them. We will even have members posted to stand guard 24/7 outside their home if their abuser is threatening or harassing them. In fact while I was in B.A.C.A. ,y chapter had a case where we stood guard at a child's house non-stop for four months. The bottom line mission of B.A.C.A can be summed up with our mission statement....
