They weren't using it anyway?

They need to now shut down the school as the rich people who donated those buildings and everything else lived in racist times.
They need to make it right by having classrooms held outside in tents put up by people making minimum wage.

All of you fricking snowflakes are fricking this country up.

the bigger issue is someone literally had the time to put in the hours of research to figure that out.
I want to be that guy who’s job is to dig into the past of random inanimate objects and find out if they were used for slavery

You could. I imagine there are grants and freebies out there to do research on erryything pre and post CW to determine if that particular item contributed to or was used during the enslaved human era.

The funny part is that people who did not know the bell existed will get worked up that it is being removed because of ties to slavery. If Tulane had said they were removing it because they didn't like the tone it made, those same people would not care. But they sure like their slavery bell.

Lol Tulane is all Yankees now anyway.
Tulane was a Yankee, and a confederate supporter at that, so they should probably just remove the whole campus.

So where does it end? Everything from the slavery period could be "tied" to that era in some way.

I fricking hate Tulane. I’m glad this happened. I have a reason to hate them even more.

Straw man argument rejected.

Maybe they removed the Victory Bell because Tulane never wins anything
Posted on 3/2/20 at 8:26 am to Mr. Hangover
"Tulane" + "Victory" = oxymoron

This will make a difference.

Is it just a bell? Or is it a replica of a “slavery” bell? I read about how the bell was once used but, why this one?
There is a more informative article that is refernced by Fox News from NOLA.com
https://www.nola.com/news/education/article_981b7eb8-59b6-11ea-bd6f-5bba1bac0a35.html
The article gives the following information. While a person could try to read this as a general statement, as in these types of bells, but the two statements taken together pretty much imply the bell was specifically used to call in slaves on a plantation.
quote:
Fitts and Hertz said they were informed last week the bell was originally used to direct the movements of enslaved people on a plantation, according to the paper.
quote:
The Victory Bell, which was cast in 1825, was donated by Richard W. Leche, a former Louisiana governor and a Tulane law school graduate, according to a recent student guidebook
I have no issues with this, particularly since Tulane is basically a college geared toward liberal trust fund babies. 43% of their student population is from the Northeast or Pacific West, 8% from Louisiana.

Does Tulane's campus contain any live oaks (hangin' oaks)? If so, some Baw needs to bring his Stihl to The City and rectify these egregious abominations of cultural prejudice.
