I wouldn't say I was raised in a racist environment, but there were times when I heard my parents get mad about something and drop the N word. One day my dad went drop my aunt (his sister) maid off at her house. A few months later his insurance went up and there was something about a law suit that was settled with his insurance. He went there and learned that she had sued his auto insurance because, when she got out of his truck, she evidently tripped. My dad said she did trip, but it wasn't bad. He went to see about her, but she told him she was fine and walked off like nothing was wrong.. He was 3 kinds of pissed off and called her "a stupid ------". My mom grew up in a rural area, her grandmother owned a grocery store and many of their customers were black. A lot of the black people in the area worked for a wealthy family, who had a grocery store. They were more expensive and when the blacks, who worked for them, went there to get groceries, they would automatically take it out of their checks and sometimes, if people needed more groceries than usual, they would end up not getting any money on pay day. My great grandmother would allow them to charge their groceries so a lot of black families use to really like her. There was a black lady who lived down the road from my great grandmother's store, who was in labor and the family didn't have a car to bring her to the hospital so my granny brought her. She named her baby after my grandmother.. Who my mom was named after as well. Til this day, that family considers my mom's side of the family, like family.. So I grew up seeing black and white people interacting. For most of grade school (except for 4 years I went to Catholic school), I went to public school that was pretty much 50/50 when it came to the ratio of blacks and whites so I never really thought about disliking someone just because they were black. I still think it's funny when I see, for example, white people who have not had much interaction with black people.. Interact with them..
