Not anti ff, but not sure what being a ff has to do with the guy’s situation or how it makes it any more important than anyone else’s?

No offense but he’s just here trying to help a friend, donate or not, no sense being a jerk.

When people talk about doing that, I ask them to consider the car is stolen or burns to the ground. Do they have enough liquid savings to say, aw hell, and go buy another one the next day? Or will they have to go borrow money or be financially devastated by the loss?

Most are in the second category, which is why their broke arse is thinking of dropping collision and comprehensive, but they are the ones who can least afford to do it,

There are probably few people flush with new car cash when their kid has cancer.

My God what a bunch of punks here making comments. I imagine the jack asses making comments are to poor to spare a few dollars for someone in need. I’ll be donating

Not trying to be a jerk, and this probably isn’t the right thread to make the observation, but playing the firefighter card in almost every conceivable area has evolved into its own monster post 9/11.

Does he not have insurance? Savings, etc?

I’ve made the proper percautions to get through a situation like this plus more. Why should I ‘help out’ someone who fails to be responsible?

Remember the other day when I called you a cocksucker?

I was too nice.

I work closely with firefighters and can tell you that you would be surprised how many callouts they get every day...between constant training and callouts, there is not much spare time at all.

I’m with you on that. As mentioned, probably not the thread to make that observation.

Just pointing out that he’s a public servant. He works for you and in your need of help. He’s in need of help now, so here I am.
The guy is a good person, good father, and just has a lot going on in his life.
There are a lot of good people here that respect public servants and know how hard they work, despite what the government thinks their worth.
That was the reason for the firefighter angle. And for what it’s worth, people have always been very good to firefighters prior to 9/11 or Katrina or whatever other event the media brought attention to.
Believe me, there’s way more that you don’t hear about on a daily basis and your tax money is going to good men and woman who put nothing in the way of protecting your property and serving you.

Thanks to everyone who has donated.
All donations are going to purchasing new uniforms (we buy), new bedding (we buy) and a used car. The rest will be sent to St Jude Children’s hospital in his son’s name for kids with cancer. I will update the OP after.

I am very grateful for the support from the good people here.

Sorry those statues coming down pulled a mask over your eyes of when the other 800 men and women responded to 65,000 medical calls and 300+ fires last year.

And for the record, Mitch forced his puppet to assist. Had nothing to do with the fire dept. We’re threatened a lot, to do jobs we’re not suppose to do.
Thank God for our Union.
The ones who volunteered to help the puppet were a very small, under 6 people, group trying to get promoted.
And then the union won a civil case against people wrongfully promoted.
So, please don’t group everyone together. It’s not always the way you think it is.
