Oh what a fun neighbor you must be. They aren’t paying to replace their silence, you dummy. They are showing their gratitude with a nice gesture. You never received a thank you note or a little present from someone?

If your neighbor gives you a $200 gift card...shite's gonna get real

If they let me know in advance, and they're doing it on either Friday/Saturday night.
I probably wouldn't care too much. Now if this is something they're doing every weekend, then that's a big issue that would not be ok. But if they're just throwing a giant Christmas party and all their family/friends are coming over. I wouldn't mind a bit, hell I might join.

my neighbors are all older than me and married while I’m single. Don’t think the wives would approve of the crowd I have over.
The gift card is a Nice gesture but you probably should’ve had the party elsewhere if you’re gonna be loud all night. You bought a house in a neighborhood with older married people. While you’re not obligated to do anything specific, it would be nice if you were considerate of your neighbors who aren’t young and single and are past the party stage.
Threads like this are why I’m so glad I live in the middle of nowhere.

If he got you the gift card, enough has been done.
