Two men were arrested and a semi-truck was seized on Saturday after police discovered the vehicle's driver's side fuel tank was holding $90.8 million worth of liquid meth. Raul Arreola, 48, of California, and Aquileo Pineda, 49, of Georgia, were booked at the Harnett County Detention Center in Lillington, North Carolina, on three counts of trafficking methamphetamine, WTVD reported.

I was watching a show recently about drug enforcement at Bogota airport. They were saying people are smuggling liquid cocaine in butt implants.

I was just in Lillington picking up a GSP puppy from Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve.

Could have been me.

Wonder how they got caught. Routine check for fuel dye perhaps?

Probably. Should have altered the tank with a divider inside so you could fill one side with diesel and have a hidden cap on the other side for the meth.

Wonder how much “90M” worth of meth actually is.
If the police math is anything like they do for pot or heroin I’m sure it’s not near as much as expected.

The obvious question is how did they discover this? Must have gotten a tip from an informant.
The next obvious question is how often does this type of illegal transport take place undetected? My guess is it happens routinely.

I would think drone mules are better for smuggling.

Someone definitely tipped them off and 10 more trucks just like that got through on the same day probably.

More often, it is because the driver is breaking a basic traffic law, i.e. speeding, changing with signaling, and draws the attention of local Barney who then upon closer inspection of vehicle, finds the drugs.
