is it worth it to replace your truck battery with an OEM one or would you reccomend picking one up at Walmart with a 5 year warranty and save $100?

I replaced both of my dodge 2500 diesel batteries with Walmart batteries over 5 years ago. No problems at all and considering that I may not start that truck for weeks at a time they have held up very well.
I am not going to pay OEM prices for essentially the same battery with a different name on it.

Almost all batteries (wet cell) are made in the same few places. you are paying for the warranty of the brand is being sold under.
Find one that has a good warranty and you have the ability to easily exchange

Junkyards have great deals on batteries (often from low mileage wrecks) - probably get a top-of-the-line one for $30

Check the auto parts places and see if they have a sale. Get a decent battery for the best price. Spend a few extra dollars for the felt pads and battery post grease. It will probably last longer than the vehicle.

Walmart because if something goes wrong in five years you bring it back and get a new one.

oem uses generic brand battery, sometimes relabeled but not always, they are just more expensive but not better quality versions of any battery you buy at the auto store
