Why in the world would you drain any water out of a pool for a rain "event"? I've had a pool fo 17 years and have drained one time due to re-plastering it.

Because I don't want chlorine water overflowing all over my landscaping and my neighbors landscaping.

Guess I should have been paying attention. What's Lafayette going to get from this? I was planning on moving over the weekend. Is that not happening?

For those putting in a pool these days I would just recommend an overflow drain about halfway up the skimmer height. I also have an auto fill and never worry about draining the pool during a rain event.

I think the center of circulation reforms farther east on this thing. How the bands are coming in I don't see how it goes into lake chuck

The convection you see is misleading about the center.

Notice the lower level clouds that are basically free from convection. That's the center, to the southwest of the convection.

Rain should be over by the weekend. Starts winding down Friday evening.

Looks like there's still two mini swirls generally moving around the "center" to me.

All the rain that falls to make your pool overflow will dilute what little relative chlorine gets into your landscape.

I have an overflow drain in the deep end at about the top level of the skimmer drain. Will this suffice? It hasn't rained near the levels they are talking about yet this summer and I have seen my pool get to the top of the skimmer several times. I guess you are telling me that this overflow should keep the water level in the pool even if we get 10-12 inches?

6z NAM predicting 8-12 inches of rain on each side of the state, with 4-6 inches across south central LA. This is through 1 PM Friday afternoon.

60 miles one way or the other is going to ensure people will bitch about getting way more/less rain than their specific address was supposed to get.

Am I wrong?

If so, sorry for the bad post.

If not, sorry for the good post.

How's that?

It will be interesting to see as the daylight loops get better.

I don't care if you're right or wrong. I wasn't asking you or anyone else for their opinion on the matter.

I simply stated what I was doing with my pool.

I really couldn't care less what you do with yours.

Yeah the water won't be very harmful but why would you want your pool flooding your yard? Just drain it a few inches and be done.

I think GOES 16 will be floating over it today, so we ought to get some excellent visuals.
