I think the entry level mid engine Corvette ($59,000) created a very hard ceiling for the Supra - which is much slower and more traditional.

The fact that the new Supra is made by BMW and uses BMW engines (with BMW labels all over it) also pissed off the Toyota faithful.

That and the Supra literally being nothing other than a z4 with a body kit.

Me and my buddy's MKIV's at the lakefront a few years ago...

The MKIV was the last true Supra.
