Alabama - shite you not, the student tours start at the south endzone of the football stadium. The "Center" of Campus is the quad, but if you were to do a self-guided walking tour, it would go as follows:

- Start at the Ferguson Center. Go past the water fountains and continue straight until you hit the quad and hang a left
- Go past Gorgas library through Quad
- Continue through campus, go until you hit fraternity houses
-Double back onto University all the way until you hit the corner where Reese Phifer hall is. Go left onto sorority row
-Take a right on Bryant Drive and eat at Rama Jamas
- Walk past stadium and head back to University drive
- Walk strip if you must
- Head back through the Quad

If you need to drive to check out dorms, rec center, go ahead.

Tuscaloosa is by no means a "great town", but the campus itself is absolutely gorgeous.

Schedule a tour with the universities. They will show you all you need to see and answer questions. Don't just try to walk around by yourself.

I know speech pathologists who have gone through both UA and AU. Both are great programs. Unsure about the other two, but I bet they are good as well.

Best of luck to your daughter

Not surprising.

I guided the tours one summer while a student. We started at the Ferguson Center, but this was 1994. We mostly had parents on it because they were done during freshman orientation. Those were probably different tours than ones for prospective students though.

I think our route then was Ferguson to Ten Hoor/Bruno Library, down to University, hang a left to the Quad, around the Quad, up Hackberry back towards Ferguson. Obviously pointing out the buildings and schools/programs they housed along the way.

Or you could just contact their admissions offices and find out when the daily tours are.

I wouldn’t disown mine, but she knows I’m not paying for it, and I will drop her off, pick her up, and visit once every other year.

She can pick any school on the planet and I will sell a kidney to pay for it if I have to, except that one. frick the Gumps.

This is what it all comes down to.

Considering OOS tuition is usually 3X, it's the #1 deciding factor when you're considering virtually any decent SEC/ACC state school.

The education and experience you'll get at Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Tennessee, NC State, South Carolina is virtually a wash. All have good schools, with decent networks, and you'll likely have a very good time whilst attending. The key is to graduate with no debt. Go where the money is and you'll be a happy camper - that I assure you.
