That’s a good one. I help run the stormtrack weather discord, another “forum” I guess, but you need an invite to get in.

Letting everyone know some power has been restored to the south side of Mayfield. My house has low water pressure so I can use the bathroom.

My Dad has full power and water so I can take showers and do laundry out there.

I’m gonna take some pictures of a house out here in Cayce for y’all.

People saying that you have to be below ground: look at the research from Texas Tech’s wind institute. With the help of FEMA, they developed above ground shelters that can basically withstand anything.

Yeah, those are an exception to the "need to be underground to survive a direct hit from an extremely violent EF-4/EF-5" theory. When I say that one needs to be underground in those circumstances, I mean underground (or in an anchored shelter like the one you're talking about) vs. being in an above ground bathroom/closet/hallway.

I'm not trained in surveying damage at all, but the stuff I've seen from the Mayfield area looks consistent with an EF-4 tornado.

Wild that, assuming there's no EF5 from this horrific night/morning, we're on an 8.5 year EF5 drought.

Our survey team in Logan County confirms a strong tornado - AT LEAST EF-2 damage with estimated wind speeds of 125 mph in the Chandler's Chapel area. Damage assessment continues so this rating could change. #kywx

It's truly unbelievable to see. I can't imagine seeing this in person.

Until you've seen the carnage in person, you just cannot appreciate how violent these EF3+ storms are.

The shite I saw in 2013, hours after the storm rolled through Moore, looked like a disaster movie set.

2 members of Tallahassee family killed by tornado while on duck hunting trip to Tiptonville, Tenn.

3rd member of family still missing

ETA: this would be part of the long-track supercell... quad-state tornado

I believe there is EF5 damage. I don't believe it is necessarily in Mayfield.

At this point, I think there will be pockets of EF5 damage. In Arkansas there are areas of woods with no structures around that have been completely denuded and de-barked. There is little large debris in the trees. That was wind speed and granulated debris that stripped those trees.

The guy's daughter posted on Twitter about it the morning after. That is just heartbreaking.

Also, we have the potential for many more still missing in the Dawson Springs area.

Unreal. That poor family.

I looked up that Cypress Resort. The pictures were horrific. Don't see how anyone survived that was staying there.
