Preliminary surveys conducted today revealed three tornadoes across northeastern Arkansas. The survey team could not find damage associated with the storm, at this time, that went on to produce the long-track tornado extending into Kentucky. #arwx

We have some Amish communities out in the Dublin and Pryorsburg communities. I was told one Amish family is gone. Husband, wife, two kids. They had no way of knowing.

That area got hit hard

Hard to hear. Went to high school in Augusta and still in contact with friends. Mostly just hit north of town in a residential area but no one was seriously injured.

Just getting home from surveying the damage across Region 8. A few thoughts: Trumann was worse than I thought (1st and 2nd pic). Leachville damage to DG was significant. Concrete anchors pulled up. Very strong tornado. (Pics 3-4)

Winter outbreaks are quite normal for the South.

Bossier City EF4 Tornado December 1978

Dr Fujita himself visited Bossier City, LA in the aftermath of the EF4 in December 1978. Pics at link if image doesn’t post. These winter tornadic outbreaks are certainly not without precedent.

ETA: Pic didn’t post but is at link.

Scale ticket from Adams Gin in Leachville, AR found 150 miles away north of Mayfield, KY.

The woman who died in Leachville was the DG manager who dove on top of a 19 yr old employee to shield them from the collapsing building.

What’s left of a vacation home on Kentucky Lake after Friday nights storms. Thank goodness no one was there at the time the tornado hit.

Up to 94 fatalities now. The deadliest outbreak since 2011, and the deadliest late or "second season" outbreak on record.
