It's time we started defending context again.
Do you think the school in question here was using 'squaw' in a pejorative context?
Posted on 6/26/18 at 4:56 pm to TheCaterpillar
I thought the n word derived form someone who couldn’t read and both white folk and blacks were described using the term

Pretty sure "Squaw" wasn't an epithet but a rank in their society. A "Squaw" was typically a young apprentice to a more veteran warrior, similar to a feudal squire.
"Tonto" is an epithet.
"Tonto" is an epithet.

No question. It is as bad as banning Twain, Harper Lee, Robert E. Lee, and the like from our historical perspective.

People who want to do this don't understand context.

False. Squaw's were considered full members of the tribe. Slaves were not, and only considered 3/5 of a person by the U.S. government.

The difference between Scott and you, Fox. A woman slept with Scott and the two had a baby.

Robert E. Lee would knucklecheck the shite out of you, Sonny Jim.

Fox has a family. And he's not divorced.
At least that is what I've gleaned from his PT postings.

No man with a family is obsessed with another man the way Fox is with Scott.

Then in that case calling someone a slave should be more derogatory than a squaw.
