A lot of municipal bills go through Western Union. I know that BR water does. It costs like $2 to pay a $40 water bill

I have to sometimes send money to employees that I put on the road for various reasons. I find its better than allowing them to have a company credit card (less risk).
There are about 100 startups working on better ways to transfer money between people. Mostly just over your phone. Many countries are way ahead of us on this, especially developing countries.
Kenya has something called M Pesa, which is basically a virtual currency. It is rapidly replacing hard currency. Everyone uses it for just about everything.
