Where is this great debate you speak of? I suspect that you’re just stirring the shite. Be creative and come up with a thread topic that has not been discussed once a month.

In a general sense you're not wrong. New Orleans should be a modern-day Alexandria (Egypt) considering its prime location on THE major trade waterway of North America. What they have squandered there is historically pathetic.
However, on a smaller scale I've witnessed multiple families in different parts of the state spearheading major change and progress within their spheres of influence. This is what it will take to pull us forward. Certain community/economic leaders need to reach a critical mass of power to drive positive change. It's almost never a grassroots movement.
On topic:
1. New Orleans
2. Baton Rouge
3. Madisonville
4. Natchitoches
5. Covington
6. Lafayette
7. Mandeville
8. St. Francisville
9. Monroe
10. Ruston

Add New Roads and remove Monroe or Ruston. List would be complete!!

Thanks for all the stats about Louisiana. Seems like I've read all of that before. But you did forget to put it in quotes.
As for as me never leaving Louisiana you could not be more wrong. Being a son of a career Naval Officer our family moved around stateside and overseas. When I became of age I joined the military and proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam flying air to air refueling missions.
After the service, getting a degree in Petroleum Engineering, hired by a major oil company I traveled the world from North America to South America, North Sea to Asia and Africa. I've been very lucky to have worked 42 years with one company.
After retirement even though I could have lived anywhere, I chose Louisiana because it's home to me and my family.
I do live a pretty simple life but it's my life. You can belittle me all you want, so be it. If your feelings were hurt I apologize.
Take a couple of Mydol and you'll be OK in the morning.

Add Minden to the list - it’s a decent small town.
