Which toll tag does the OT recommend? Seems like there are several entities that offer tags. Which one would be best for someone who will be using various roads around the state? What about out of state usage, are they similar in this regard? Thanks.

I would go with TxTag. It works across the state. Also works in Oklahoma and Kansas.

TxTag

Never had any issues with it in 15 years out here. My parents travel from out of state and always get hit with a bill, they finally gave in and bought one for themselves

Yeah, the other tags only work in certain counties and you can get hit with massive fees for all kinds of silly reasons."

TXTag and EZTag will pretty much cover you.

Not that it matters much for me since I don’t travel that much, but it would be nice if the Causeway and Geauxpass jumped on the same page with interoperable tolling not just for in state motorists but for out of state drivers too.

Think about it, you should be able to use your Texas Tag on the Causeway or Leeville bridge like you can use your Geauxpass on the Beltway 8 or any other Texas Freeway.

I believe there was an initiative to get all the states to use the same tolling systems, but it seems there are a few that are dragging their feet.

Even within Louisiana, unless it has changed, you have to have a Causeway and a Geauxpass account, but they can read the same tag. So you have 2 separate accounts with reserve funds.

Any reason why NTTA would be better than Tx Tag?
