A Florida man was charged with criminal damage to property after he allegedly threw an old toilet through the front window of the District 189 Board of Education Office, East St. Louis police said Wednesday. Dave J. Toliver, 36, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. Police responded to the district building on State Street on Friday and were told a man had thrown a toilet through the front glass of the district building and then ran from the scene. Police found Toliver a few blocks away, sitting on another old toilet at the corner of 11th Street and Cleveland Avenue. Toliver was then taken into custody.

None that I see on a daily basis when I live and work in St Louis proper. This story takes place across the river, in another city and state entirely.

East St. Louis is the St. Louis like West Memphis is the Memphis. Across the Mississippi in another state.

Correct.

I live about four miles from Arkansas (and West Memphis) and I don't know a single person who lives there. The metro expands far south and east, and Mississippi Memphis feels little different than Tennessee Memphis. Arkansas Memphis is non-existent.

I can’t even remember the last time I went to West Memphis other than to drive to St Louis or Dallas.
