It was definitely a thing at family holiday parties when I was kid, but I don’t think I’ve seen it since my grandparents died.

Now, one Wisconsin holiday tradition I do miss is brandy slushes. Always was allowed to have one as a kid at Christmas.

I don't eat raw ground beef from the store.

But... I order my steaks raw and just seared.

If I'm grinding beef myself at the house from roasts, I always preseason a few packs for burgers.

Wash roast well. Salt the outside. Chop fine. Season. Mix. And...... Taste.

Why not?

You have to eat food raw when you don't know how to cook.

I usually eat a half pound or so of fresh ground chuck on the way home from the store.

I have often make a large patty and put it on a large bun and eat it raw.

.

That’s me.

I just saw your post above mine.

In fact that’s what I’m going to eat tonight.i don’t feel like cooking.

I’ve eaten a lot of yellow fin tuna raw. A lot of it warm and 10 minutes after I killed the fish.

I don't know, i think so? It's not unlike sushi grade tuna and the normal tuna at the grocery store.

Heck yeah; that’s delicious.

But ground meat from the grocery store is different than that, I think

Yeah I’m gonna stick to medium rare on steaks/prime rib and medium on burgers. I’ve had tartare it didn’t make me want to eat raw meat moving forward.

Not ground meat from scraps. Ground chuck is a whole muscle product, like steaks. The E Coli from the digestive track doesn’t get on that meat.
Ground meat in a sleeve from a big processor is what is going to make you sick.

I also drink raw eggs from my chickens by the dozen. They are true free rangers and have les chance of carrying salmonella.

Your chances of getting a commercial salmonella egg is one in 30,000. That’s what the egg scientist says.

In-laws in WI carry on this tradition every Christmas eve. Brother-in-law will have 2-3 typically, heavy on the onions and seasoning.

Brandy Slushes, Brandy Alexanders and Old Fashions are consumed Christmas eve and all throughout the year as well.

Truth be told I grew up there and expected this to be about lutefisk, lefse, and/or kolaches.

It wasn't a holiday season thing, though it was done mostly around the build up to the gun deer season...and a staple of hunting camps. I used to eat them as a kid. We'd hang around after hunting shows/conventions and there was always rye bread, onions, salt & pepper, and a full hamburger tray like you see at the meat counter. (ETA: It wasn't WM shite either...deep red and usually ground sirloin. That picture is just what that liberal pussy gov wants unknowledgeable people to think it is.)

After my grandma went to a nursing home we'd go there to celebrate her birthday...in July. My uncle would grill something there for everyone but my dad brought in everything needed for the sandwiches. The last time I think it was just my dad and my uncle/his BIL as both my wife and my aunt fed off each other about how disgusting it was. I don't even eat anything that's not medium well.

And FWIW the Limp dick governor and his people can GFT.
