The south is also much more rural and more spread out as well (sans Naples and that area). Just by lifestyle, your basic reproduction number will probably be lower in the south than north.

That's true.

There are still in Italy some huge regions that are more crowded than the north in certain regards --like the Lazio region with Roma and Florence, in addition Naples that have, so far, avoided the worst of this.

so everyone posting Louisiana vs Italy numbers are saying we will have 600-800 deaths a day within next week or so?

JBE says week one of April, LA Hospitals will be overwhelmed. That is when the death panels step into the picture and the big numbers start to come in.

The elderly and the poor will be sent home with a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup and left on their own to fight against the death grip of ARDS while the politically connected and quasi-famous are welcomed into the ICU and connected to ventilators.

Yes but this is inevitable across the country to a degree. Completely preventing our hospitals from being overwhelmed for a week or two would have been almost impossible. It’s limiting this to just a week or so that’s the reason for the current social distancing.

Not to be an arse, but the virus is here now. Italy has a documented issue, we get it.

It's like an ongoing thing though..that can be studied

Is Italy still singing China’s anthem from their windows?
