What’s ironic is had the Yamato group pressed their attack they would have fallen upon the massive invasion fleet and slaughtered them, which was the plan all along. Basically the Japanese plan to lure away 3rd Fleet and then attack the unguarded invasion force had worked, they just didn’t realize it and missed a golden opportunity.


Nailed it. Would’ve been the worst day in US naval history if they hadn’t been scared off by taffy 3. It’s even more unlikely when you realize that the Japanese high command viewed their attack as suicidal/bonzai and were fine with losing the task force anyways.

Massive failure.

Scary to think about. How many of us wouldnt be here if taffy3 hadnt held their position
