I am pretty sure only way I would be able to contact an ex nowadays for me is thru social media and I am not about that life. This is what being happily married a long time will do.

Yes, if both people are willing to look inward (forgiveness, listening skills, and selfishness) first vs. outward (blame-shifting, not taking responsibility, etc.) then it has the potential to work out.
Unfortunately, pride comes in, lack of forgiveness, and bad advice from friends, family, and even counselors cause many of the obstacles as well.
