Between state, fed, property and sales taxes the government take almost half my earnings. These guys were out cutting throats over a tea tax.

I pointed out to her that her teacher is a dumbass for not making them do it yesterday... For obvious reasons.
First, your daughter did not recite "Paul Revere's Ride" today. It's a ten-stanza poem consisting of 130 lines.

Second, the teacher is not a dumbass because, as Longfellow states in the second line, it is the MIDNIGHT ride of Paul Revere.

While it started on "the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five," it finished on April 19. Indeed, the important part of the ride occurred after midnight when Revere warned Hancock and Adams in Lexington and then continued on to Concord:
quote:

It was one by the village clock,
When he galloped into Lexington. . . .

It was two by the village clock,
When he came to the bridge in Concord town.

We are a far cry from our forefathers. That’d be ashamed of us today.

Nice, there was a lot of them in Washington and Greene county PA. My great-grandparents on my Dad’s side married in Greene then moved across the border to WV where I grew up. I’ve found 47 ancestors with Revolutionary War service so far. Only one with any fame is Martin Wetzel on my mother’s side who was the older brother of famed frontiersman Lewis Wetzel.
