So when we were kids and would jump out of trees, sometimes if you were a little unsure you might sit down on the limb because you know that lowered you a couple or 3 ft closer. I like those guys sitting on the ramp like that was going to make them MUCH closer to Earth...

Nice video. Glad you enjoying your retirement.

Nah. He has this weird obsession with me. Every time I post he feels the need to disparage my service. Like his time as a Military Intelligence officer in the Army National Guard is somehow more relevant than mine. Classic penis envy.

I am not sure which country that is, but those are not US paratroopers. You are conditioned to perform exit procedures (whether ramp or door) by reflex. A poor exit is the surest way to have a jump injury or even a fatality. A static line misrouted under your arm or around your neck is catastrophic. And if it is misrouted under your pack tray (parachute pack) can cause you to become a towed jumper. From a technique standpoint, everything about that video was horrible.

USMC 1st Recon and last 2 yrs at 1st Anglico
Jumpmaster!
The c130 ramp jumps were by far my favorite, right up there with a Huey
But looking at those exits I wonder how their PLF’s looked like

I was trying to find the scene from the movie Fandango where Phil, a jump student, jumps with a laundry bag instead of a skydiving rig.

Most folks are. Even with comparatively large bonuses, retention has always been shite.

That one jumper landed on the ramp pretty hard - I bet that felt nice on his tailbone.

Here is a video of a jumper with (I believe) their static line misrouted under their pack tray. They became a towed jumper (not good).

For service, not valor. Basically a Meritorious Service Medal while deployed. Thankful for it, but I take it with a grain of salt.

So what do they do when that happens? That looks terrifying.
