Will do. Not sure coming off chill and cool on the internet is worth defending that post, though.

This response to a thread saying Nola might get hit hard by a hurricane is something. That it has 30+ up votes on a board full of people who either live there or have family and friends living there, makes me hate this fricking site so much.

My house in NOLA has been for sale for a year. I sold it and am supposed to close in 2 weeks. The house I’m moving to had a tree fall on it two weeks ago and left a big hole in the roof. The eye is projected to pass over my new house that is currently keeping out the rain with tarps and New Orleans is supposed to get hammered which may damage the house I’m trying to sell.

I really need a break…

By a few miles? I am not seeing major shifts that would make a difference for BR/LP.

Surge is not an issue for the east bank. It’s projected to be barely half of the 16 ft or higher the levees are along Lake Pontchartrain.

Before Katrina the fear was overtopping of levees from storm making landfall west of New Orleans. Nobody thought about the canals. The canals have been fixed. The overtopping threat still exits but this isn’t the storm. With Ida I’m more worried about 10 inches of rain throughout metro area and all the utility poles getting knocked down by wind.

Fine and dandy in theory, on paper.

Hopefully correct.

Fun Fact: All SE LA levees have sunk an average 2.87 inches since Katrina.

I’ve been tracking George Bush and making sure he doesn’t dynamite the levees again. Will keep everyone posted.

Which ones exactly? You seem like a drama queen.
I know the Jefferson parish levees and many others in the region have been widened and raised in the last 10 years

According to the special I watched on TWC earlier, it’s all of them, although I don’t know how much 3 inches is going to matter really. They were really projecting to 15 years or so from now it being a potential issue to be concerned with.
