I noticed the local library had a batch of Amos and Andy VHS tapes during the 90s. Then noticed fewer and fewer on the shelf. Then, nada, they were removed. That show was really good. Classic comedy delivered pretty well.

My late grandfather was a huge Cheers fan and would gladly tell you a big part of his love for the show was due to the fact that there were, as you said, “No blacks.”

Tom and Jerry episodes from seasons 1-6 have a black nanny figure named “Mammy” but you never even see her face. She’s overweight and uses the wrong verb tenses and speaks dramatically southern.
