Thoughts on Infrared Heaters?

While it may still be warm now, I was considering getting an infrared heater for the winter. I would hope to use it instead of turning on the central heat, when I only need heat to one part of the house. Anyone have experience with them?

I have one like this. It works well for a small room but uses a lot of power. If you plan on three or four in different rooms at the same time you might as well just use central heat.

I have an oil filled radiant heater in my shop. Set the digital thermostat and it keeps the temp steady. Less of a fire hazard than infrared.
