I understand that they have rules and if they're not followed then they can deny coverage. I'm okay with that as long as I know and am okay with the rules going in.
If you're OK with the rules, and you trust them to apply the rules somewhat fairly, then go for it. I can't say either of those things.
It's not just about me. What if my kid breaks a leg while he happens to have THC in his urine? Let me, his father, punish him for smoking dope. Withholding medical care as punishment is far from biblical.

Sounds like a great idea per their radio ad but here is an instance of a hospital not accepting it: LINK

My folks (almost 70 now) had it for years and loved it. My dad had 2 minor heart surgeries and didn’t have to pay much out of pocket. He saved a ton of money on lower monthly premiums.
My brother switched to them not too long after ObamaCare was implemented. Went from almost $1500 per month (family of 6) to $500-550. I switched over a few years back and went from $1100 to $485. You do come out of pocket a little more on meds/scripts and Dr. visits, but if relatively healthy like we are, come out far ahead when factoring in monthly savings.

While the email stated that, even at discounted insurance company rates, Medi-Share underpaid the Alley's bills, we reviewed bills from Northside Hospital and each one had a zero balance. More than $98,000 had been paid, or discounted like traditional in-network insurance, before the hospital quit accepting Medi-Share.

The Alleys are no longer under threat of losing Laura’s cancer care. Their current bill also shows a zero balance because Medi-Share paid it in advance at self-pay rates.
“They wired the money,” Nick told Strickland. “I mean, wired the money. what kind of health insurance company would do that, you know?”
Sounds like the hospital sucks. But these are the kinds of things I'm worried about.

Relative healthy is not a metric for choosing health insurance. Your kid gets cancer, treatment is 200k, and they are in no way obligated to pay. WTF are you going to do? OP, look at a HSA. Or just get your wife to work at a school.

For whatever exclusions they have they aren’t withholding medical treatment. That would be your choice.
Personal responsibility should be rewarded with lower premiums, and those who act irresponsibly should pay more including anyone on this plan. I am sure that like high deductible plans people should be putting aside money to spend on medical issues before deductible met and also for amounts not covered by insurance afterwards that think they may need. Even with regular insurance there are rules to follow if we want something covered or even to count towards deductible.

it did apply. But asking for a reduction in balance is a crapshoot, and technically illegal by the provider, because any reduction in cost/fees by the provider ought to be reduced as well to the insurance company.

Medishare is shite. I wouldn’t trust my life on if.

All insurance companies are crooks esp in the healthcare industry. America makes it a whole lot worse than it should.

We had medishare for about two years. It was kind of a pain in the arse getting our paperwork filed. We left a pediatrician because their billing office was very judgemental about medishare. They refused to fax our claims for us even though we already told them we were fine paying everything upfront.
However once we found offices willing to file the paperwork with medishare it worked like a dream. We had a family share “deductible” that we met and they paid for everything afterwards. We had our second child on medishare and It was really eye opening. We paid $2800 up front when we checked in on my wife’s inducement date. We never paid another dime........ and medishare wrote us a check a month later for the entire thing.
We only went back to BCBS because my work started offering a very good plan and my wife became eligible at her work.

Completely worthless.
Imagine arse holes who are power tripping idiots and in a HOA are put in charge of medical care with a Christian smokescreen.
My wife is in the medical field and has seen children denied diabetic medicine and coverage, preventive cardiac care like caths that would have prevented heart events and major emergencies.
They prey on the stupid and they state they negotiate but that's not true. One unexpected event and you could be tens of thousands in debt with no recourse. It's gambling.
