Have a 2022 Silverado, I’m about to try the L9 gear on daily drives. Recently had the Fuel Pump Control Module fail, it left the truck completely stranded in the middle of the street, had to jack it up on two 3 ton jacks and push it to the curb, FPCM failure left it completely immobilized. After replacing that module with one from O’Reilly’s the transmission has now began to shudder, especially when I’m decelerating between red lights and in stop and go driving, a Google search finds Chevy failures with torque converters and Transmission Control Modules, one video said try L gear and use paddle shifting to choose 9th gear, for some reason that’s the only gear that bypasses AFM and Auto Stop.
GM knows that this is a nationwide problem and has a couple of recalls but they only issued a very small number of affected VIN numbers and dealers won’t do anything unless your specific VIN is listed.

I don't know the specifics of dfm. mine has afm which is just between v4 and v8.

The older DOD and AFM systems could deactivate 4 specific cylinders to swap from V8 to V4. With 2 valves per cylinder.... you had 8 regular lifters on the 4 non-deactivating cylinders and 8 lifters prone to collapsing on the 4 cylinders capable of deactivation.

When GM released DFM, they doubled down on stupid. They applied cylinder deactivation to all 8 cylinders. This means that all 16 lifters are now the ones prone to collapse instead of only 8.
