I got plenty of out of control spankings in my time. One of the main things I did with my boys was to always have rules for spanking. Meaning... If you did something bad enough, you would get a swat. At first it was a 5gal paint stirrer until they broke easily. Then I moved to a real board paddle. I made sure to talk to them before and tell them what they did wrong and made sure they understood why it was unacceptable.

If they fought, I would give them 5 for fighting plus the 1 owed. I had one that only got 6 once while the other one never got just 1. Always go in a bathroom for private area to discipline. Disciplining your kid is for them to get better, not for you to get rid of anger. If you can't wait to be in private, then you are just abusing the kid, not teaching them.

That scenario seems a bit different than what was posted in the OP

What age did you start pistol whipping them?

I do have a clue, because my parents rarely spanked me and I was a pretty good kid, and, while I do occasionally pop my kids on the leg, I have never hit them that hard.

I guess that teaching your kids right from wrong, and teaching them that there are consequences to their actions isn’t enough for some people. But we are talking about people who need the threat of burning in hell for all eternity to act like decent people.

Christianity is a pretty good tool for teaching kids right from wrong

Who knows what the little boy did - he still took it like a man. Smacking the little girl in the face at the end was ‘tell tale’...

She had no reaction. These kids are abused.

You all who think this is cool and OK - well, I’ll stop there.

yeah he looked like a grandad. it is why I give him a break. those kids probably have parents that buy them expensive phones and ipads at 4 years old and up. they may be rotten and needed a grandad spanking to learn to sit and behave w/o an ipad or phone.

Nope, I let my kids watch tv, or YouTube about 20 minutes per day. Otherwise they are playing outside, riding their bikes, making art work, dancing to music, etc.

That's what I like to say. Doesn't look overboard in the least bit to me.

Grandparents are supposed to be the ones spoiling kids in my experience

Some real pussies in this thread. I got it worse than that from momma. Couldn’t imagine pops.

In the long run I have become a somewhat law abiding citizen that tries to have patience with everyone. They knew what they were doing

I don’t know doc. Getting your arse kicked in public will make you stop acting out. I was always more embarrassed than anything.

Sure, it can be. But it’s not absolutely necessary. I know this is going to be hard to believe, but hear me out. People can have morals, compassion, happiness, and live a fulfilling, good life without the threat of eternal suffering. I’m sure that goes against everything you’ve been taught growing up, but it’s true.

Try it sometime!

You haven’t been whooped until you’ve been tetherballed by a perforated belt. I don’t remember why I was whipped but I do know I never did whatever I was whipped for again.

I got it worse than that too.

Nothing wrong with admitting that our elders could’ve used more discretion.

I’m not a Christian. Just saying there are some valuable lessons to be learned about right from wrong from the Bible regardless of ones religious background.

Wow, what a bad take. If I saw my dad doing that to my kids no matter how shitty they were being I’d beat my old man’s arse. Disciplining my children is my job, not his. If he thinks they are being assholes don’t bring them places and tell me why he won’t rather than this bullshite.
