Have you checked with other services? Is there a particular reason you want to go AF?

Stick with the AF....I was 10 years army (5 active/5 reserve)....the pay was good (got out as a CPT) but the army fuks with you when they find you are happy in a job.

"oh wait a minute....you like your job and assignment??.....well by all means, lets fuk that up for you and move you somewhere else and give you a whole new job that you'll need to go to a schit load of schools to learn how to do."

That's the army.

Honestly, you will probably travel less in the AF than in any other branch. Especially with the types of jobs you're looking at.

I think you'd be able to get into most of those jobs in any branch. Especially the Navy. The Marines are the only ones who are really limited on "high tech" jobs. You should look into being a Naval officer. In any case, I would research all your options before you sign on the dotted line to enlist. It's a decision that's going to affect the rest of your life. I was enlisted in the Marines, trust me, you want to be an officer.

This.....don't go in as an enlisted man in any branch.....I respect the shite out of those guys but if you have a choice....go officer.....much better pay being the biggest reason.

Officer accessions are very limited right now for all US armed services due to the massive drawdown.

I posted the latest OTS board results earlier. The selection rates are pretty high. You just have to get through the BS and apply. And a 3.1 GPA is fine. You don't need a grade waiver with that. Nothing is stopping you... except you (this part is meant for Retrograde).

OP Don't, I am so fricking disgusted with my Air Force today.

Mostly my fault for allowing my recruiter to stick with me a pussy arse job such as Medical Admin.

I am having a nightmare currently though worrying about my contractor's feelings etc. frick the Air Force seriously. A lot of other jobs aren't as bullshite as this, but the fact that I am currently having to deal with this pussified shite is enough to tell me I made the wrong decision in picking this shite.

I've wrestled with the idea a few times.

Mid 20's with an engineering degree and a good job. Pretty damn bored though.

With 13 years in the Air National Guard, I recommend if you are going the enlisted route look at the ANG or ARNG first. Keep your current job and do your weekend warrior stuff. If you enjoy it start looking for a AGR or Technician job in the Guard.

Sounds like you have regret for passing up West Point but this sounds like a mini mid life crisis and no need to throw a decent job away because you are bored right now. Trust you will get bored in the military too.

I can only imagine how tight it is now to get a spot at OCS in the Marines. You better not have a flaw.

Go officer, not elisted. Do not believe anything a recruiter tells you. Do your own research.

Do NOT take "no" from someone who doesn't have the authority to tell you "yes.'
