On my test last year, it showed less than 1 percent on mine and it all pointed to Senegal. It actually fit with what I know about my ancestry. So they always don't just throw it out there to screw with people. Due to the large amount of slaves in the early US, it's not surprising that a lot of people have trace amounts of African DNA in their blood.

My 4th GGF after he migrated from France, married a Quadroon/Mulatto woman who was a direct ancestor of Andre Masse's freed slaves, who were from Senegal. All of the other indicated areas on the DNA results pointed to parts of the world where I knew my ancestors came from. It was pretty neat to see how it lined up with what I knew about my ancestry already.

I’m curious about this as well. I recently found out I’m 5% Nigerian. Those scammers may have been telling me the truth.
