Abita put me on to these. I texted him about something different but solid gas station nonetheless.

In Minnesota, there are smokehouses that stink of ciscoes, trout, whitefish, herring...

I went in one to buy some smoked fish with my father in law, and lasted about 3 minutes. Later, he expected me to eat some.

Skyline chili

I lived in Cincinnati for 18 months. A local got upset when I told him Skyline Chili tastes like Alpo.

While I don't think it's as big as from the 80s & 90s, automotive undercoating/underbody companies are a very northern thing. Ziebart, Krown, etc.

In the early 80s Wisconsin roads looked like rolling junkyards with all the body rust on vehicles. By the early 90s most car manufacturers had started hot dip galvanizing body panels, and the need for aftermarket rustproofing eventually died out.

I used to work with a conductor that smoked carp.

He'd stink up the cab with that shite.

Skyline frickin sucks. We briefly lived up north 20 years ago and cooked Louisiana chili one time for a friend I ran into him a few years ago and one of the first things he mentioned was that chili.
