Go on.

Husband has never really been on board for adoption. And that is his right to feel that way. I’m not gonna force my spouse to change his mind about that. Adoption process is already stressful enough...you really need both parents to be 100% on board for it imo.

And the cost factor. Not looking to foster to adopt, so would be looking at 30-50k to adopt. I think fostering/fostering to adopt is a wonderful thing....it just isn’t something I personally wish to do.

I'm fortunate that my insurance pays $25k towards treatment/procedures, but I know that doesn't go far at all.

That's awesome your insurance will cover that much, it would have more than covered everything for my wife and I to do egg retrieval and 2 rounds of IVF. Our nurses/doctor saved us a ton of money by getting meds from couples who did not use theirs

My clinic offers a discounted cycle. $5500 for one cycle(one retrieval and one transfer and all the monitoring, labs, etc). Doesn’t include meds (3-6k), anesthesia for retrieval ($500), and PGS ($1200 to clinic, $2000 to lab). Because of my age my dr has strongly recommended PGS and I agree with him.

Still cheaper than other places though. I would imagine a second transfer wouldn’t be that expensive. I wouldn’t be against just a second transfer.

you can go so far down the rabbit hole chasing a pregnancy (“well maybe one more round of IVF”).

Been there and done that for almost 6 years. Finally we had enough or really more like, finally we are almost broke financially and emotionally (had a few miscarriages along the way). Then after stopping all fertility stuff, boom, pregnant. My daughter will be 10 in August.

Infuriating that junkies can pop out babies they don’t want left and right....but I’ve got to take out a loan to hopefully get pregnant.

That and friends that just say how they accidentally got pregnant, especially the ones that know what we went through. AHOLES!!!

Good friend of mine got pregnant from basically a one night stand. She told me over brunch one day and even said she was nervous to tell me cause of what I’ve been going through.

She is excited now about the baby and I’m happy for her. Even gave her a bunch of boy baby clothes that my sister in law needed to get rid of to make space in her house for her baby girl due this summer.

My husband and I each had fertility issues. Thankfully, both were easy to correct. My doctor did suggest artificial insemination because I was 34 at the time. It worked on the first attempt and we were blessed with a boy, Insurance was great back then, as the procedure itself only cost us $125 out of pocket.

Wishing those dealing with this issue understanding, patience, and hopefully, SUCCESS!

My wife and I are going through this right now. We frequently read stories of all of dregs of society abusing and neglecting the dozens of children they seem to pop out on accident while we struggle to conceive. It's downright infuriating!

Ran tests on both of us, both came back perfectly normal, so no clue what's wrong. Hit the bulls-eye once last year then we had a miscarriage, so we're trying the old fashioned way for a little while longer before going with IVF.

FWIW I've had two coworkers who are success stories after multiple rounds of IVF, so don't get discouraged too easily.

Best of luck to you!

I’ve done 4 IUIs. Each one covered 80% by my insurance. Think we paid $200-300 out of pocket for each round (that includes meds...which were not covered by insurance).

Now that I’m 40....just feel like more IUIs would only waste precious time. It’s time for me to “go big or go home” basically.

I've always felt like IUIs were a waste. Obviously they work for some people but the odds are so low.

I'll be thinking of you! I know how stressful the process is, but it can totally be worth it.
