Birds will fly backwards, cows will stampede Rawhide style,
dogs will chase their tails the entire time.

Also, pigs will fly.

Be vigilant.

A total solar eclipse that can be seen across all of the US hasn't happened in 99 years. So it's sort of a big deal.

t's pretty significant if you are in the path of totality.

If you are outside of it, it's not that big of a deal.

I'm close enough to where almost 98% of the sun will be blocked, so it should be pretty cool.

I look at it this way. There's a lot of things dividing us right now. If something can bring us together, even if it's for a few minutes, then I'm not going to fuss too much about it.

There is a significant difference between 98% and totality.

Can't see the cerubus at 98%.

If you don't get why this is a big deal then you're either incredibly dense or you lack perspective

The people that don't care about this event are the same people that watch Keeping up with the Kardascian reruns everyday. These are the same people that have visited Disney world a thousand times but have never seen Grand Canyon, Niagara falls, the aurora borealis, etc

There are gifts that nature gives us, we're only on this planet for a short time.. take some time to smell the roses. /rant

I don't get it. I think it's kind of interesting, but if it were on a weekend and I had shite to do, I wouldn't care to miss it.

I don't particularly care and I don't do Disney world or the Kardashians.

Caring about this is pretty mainstream...kind of like the Disney World crowd

Wrong, civilizations for thousands of years have built shrines and created artwork dedicated to the skies and celestrial events. Hell, there is a pyrimad in Mexico that is built for the soul purpose of marking the summer solstice. Stonehenge is arranged in a way that marks solar and lunar eclipses.

Nothing wrong with being excited about things. That's a much better way to live life than being cynical and grumpy about everything.

I have never been so excited for anything in my life. I kept all of my kids out of school and drove to my MILs house in Alcoa, TN yesterday. We had an eclipse party last night and had 2 cakes. One was a moon cake and the other a sun cake. The younger kids played pin the moon on the sun. My son wrote a poem called "Baileys Beads" and read it for the family and I cried. I didn't sleep a wink last night and am periodically so nervous that I am on the cusp of hyperventilating at times. On one hand I want this feeling to never end but on the other I know it needs to happen soon as I can go back to a normal life.

Sounds like they should have watched more Kardashians.
