Is this where we all brag about our 401(k) balances?

Insane. I haven't hit 30 yet and I already have 15k in both a company sponsored retirement plan and a Roth IRA.
You're on the right track. I didn't have a 401 until I was damn near 30.

The question is, will it be enough when they come of retirement age? If they don't do periodic adjustments, it won't be.

1 in 6 Millenials have 100k in savings- Forbes in 2018

Is that better or do you still want to use anecdotal evidence from the few people you know to project over a whole population when there is already empirical data that says you are wrong?

Good frick EM! They deserve to be poor in old age when they decided to rack up debt for their exorbitant homes, cars, etc. Zero sympathy from me.

It’s never that easy. These scenarios are why we max one 401k and contribute another 4% with match in the other. We both are on pension plans.

That article is what keeps me up at night, being newly married. I’ll be long dead at 76 but the wife.

We're pensions commonplace in your industry, or was that unique to your company?

It was common back then and ours was unique to have both. It was known that it might not last forever, so the 401 was brought in as a back up.

If Social Security went bankrupt this country would eat itself. These people can’t provide for themselves

median savings in a 401(k) plan for people between the ages of 55 and 64 is currently just $15,000

Yikes. Talk about doing it wrong.

It will or at least have the retirement age changed to 75 or something like that. It's an unsustainable Ponzi scheme and will collapse in flames like most government programs

You're clearly an outlier according to the data. Your experience doesn't speak for the whole though.
