Looks closer to an octopus like they would throw in Detroit the way it is mangled.

At least he admits it

Recalling how it unfolded, Waddell told 104.5 The Zone: "I thought, 'Man, wouldn't it be awesome to get to go to that game?' And then, like an ignorant redneck, I thought 'Wouldn't it be awesome to throw a catfish on the ice at this game?'"

It's all stupid, the original Detroit tradition included, but stealing someone else's stupid tradition is even worse.

Personally I'm just glad to see a human who is fully committed to what he believes in and will work hard to accomplish it.

Alright Mr. Fun Guy, the fans think its hilarious to put a redneck southern spin on a famous tradition by the Red Wings. Its kind of a frick you to the old guard of hockey by a team from a very Southern city.

Nashville is obsessed with the Preds and has made it one of the best home environments in all of hockey.

Saw a stat on ESPN that Preds tickets in upper deck for the Finals are going for $1,000 and Penguins are going for $250. That's pretty wild.

Because a guy threw a catfish onto the ice before a hockey game?

Give me a break.

Complete thievery

I said Blues fans should do this, back when the Wings were first throwing an octopus on the ice.

I thought the first comment on the story was pretty funny:

This should be a tradition at Saints games. For at least as long as Manti Te'o is on the roster, anyway.

They didnt steal it.

It was Detroit fans who moved down to nashville to work at a GM plant who started it.

This guy also got some police charges filed against him for doing it

The op could have clarified this in the subject

I was picturing a guy bought a fish from Nashville and threw it on some ice road in Pittsburgh during the winter time.

That was before reading the article.

So no one could smell the catfish that was stuffed near his junk?
