I seriously don't know.. Are booby traps really illegal if on your property?

Yes

I argued this in law 1001 on a case where someone set up a shotgun with rock salt. The class sided with me and the professor was dejected

The wall of the trap was too perfectly smooth to have been dug in dirt and the corner was 90 degrees.
Unless it was a hole built so someone could work on a car safely, it wasn't just for catching perps.

Nah, the proper way would be to back up a dump truck full of dirt and then dump it in the hole on top of him.

The only thing that would have made this better would be if the jet ski and trailer somehow started to tilt towards the hole, and then fell in on top of the creep.
That would be some real Coyote vs Roadrunner shite.
