Define "life" though. Sure there has to be some form of bacteria, plants, basic life, etc. on other planets but aliens and civilization I'm not so sure. Y'all ever think that as vast as the universe is, maybe the probability for earth to develop life as it has, the probability was 1 and astronomical/infinite odds?
You realize how many 100 billion is? The thought of us being the only intelligent life with that many systems out there is simple to me

ETA: If there are 100 billion solar systems like ours just in the milky way, and 100 billion galaxies like the milky way, that means there is 10 billion trillion solar systems like us

The chance of you being alive are among those odds. Seriously think about it. You are 1 amongst the tens of billions of sperm your dad has produced as well as among the thousands of eggs your mother did. That probability of you forming are easily in the trillions. In essence, we've all won the lottery at one point by simply existing. Then add your parents, and their parents, and so on and so forth for millions of years, and the chances that you are alive are less than in the millions of trillions.

Unless your messican, then the chances of you existing greatly increase

Im 99% sure there is life outside of planet earth. It just makes no sense to me that one random planet in one random solar system in one random galaxy somehow holds the only intelligient life form.

Rather the "aliens" are tiny green creatures, maybe they have super powers like thor or supermans planets. I dont know. And im fine with that. There is so much to this life we live, and we will never even begin to understand half of it.

Awesome stuff. I, too, like to ponder these things about the universe. It definitely puts day to day stresses and worries into perspective. We are pretty damn insignificant in the big picture of things despite our pretenses to the contrary as humans. Thanks for the link!

So basically, Earth is located in a rural area of the galaxy and Earthlings are all rednecks?

Yeah, I know that's a real shocker. We have to be the equivalent of a short bus species with the way we slaughter each other to resolve our differences.

These guys are almost certain there is life out there outside of earth but they also are 100% sure there is no God..

What's your definition of God? I believe in a creative intelligence behind the Universe. I don't believe in the ridiculous manmade image of "god" that religions describe with human emotions and characteristics.

Kind of funny to think about. Also funny to think about is that we're scanning the skies for artificial signals, but even if we did "hear" anything, the species that sent it most likely will have died out thousands or millions of years ago.
