"Nightmare" is am exaggeration. I've lived here for 15 years ofand the traffic doesn't compare to NOLA or Baton Rouge.
And, yes, Mandeville, Covington is significantly better than Slidell.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If it's suburbia: cookie cutter neighborhoods and strip malls with good public schools Mandeville/Covington ain't a bad choice..

I have family in Slidell, and Coin du Lestin is my favorite neighborhood in the area.

My in-laws live in Slidell and I hate it. I'd rather live in Gulfport, MS than Slidell, LA.
I agree with Mandeville/Covington.
Metarie would be my first choice, though.
