Thinking about joining the military UPDATE: joined Army

Military baws, I've been strongly considering joining the military and am leaning Air Force or Army. For those who have served how was your experience and would you have switched if you could go back?
Update 10/29: joined Army as 15u. On my way too basic today

It was the best thing I ever did.
ETA: only regret I ever had professionally was getting out of the service. I was MI and left to work in the IC. Hated the bs of gov worker... it wasn’t the same.
Military service isn’t for everyone, but it will pay dividends like no other for those that take advantage of it.

Army was great for me, but Air Force gets all the perks. They are much bigger pussies though. If that’s not an issue for you then Air Force is the way to go.

Join the Coast Guard. You'll thank me later.

You a young baw? Join the Army, don’t be a leg and go to college afterward on the government’s dime. Save at least some of your GI Bill for graduate school. That’s my advice

Joined the Marine Corps right out of HS... I regret nothing

I'm active army. and I like it. Basic and AIT suck arse bigly but life in the real army is chill. You barely work when you arent in the field. you get perks and benefits, and the chicks love a military dude. I recommend army, air force is weak and most likely you'll be in a cubicle all day
eta: you definitely respect life and your family and friends a lot more, makes you appreciative of them and makes you a better man! do it

I loved my time in the Army. There are many cliched things in this world, but military service making you a better person and teaching you about yourself is not one. It is the real deal. Honestly, Air Force is easier basic and duty, but I would go back and do Army again in a second.

Best thing I ever did. When I got out of high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. After wasting a year screwing around, I joined the navy, got stationed in Hawaii and made two Westpacs and grew up a lot.

Yeah some of y'all could double or triple my age

The GI bill and insurance along with the teaching in whatever field I go into are making me want to join

Best decision I ever made.
Go Officer if you have a degree. No question.
ETA: and if you enjoy it, don’t get out. Probably my biggest regret to this day was getting out.

I will have been in for four years in September. Joining the military (if you don’t get disqualified at MEPS for any reason) is a no brainer in my opinion...the catch is just in what capacity will you chose to serve. You should have a plan of what job you want to do in the military because they are not all created equally. Research different career paths in every branch. Do you want to kick down doors or fly a desk? These questions are cliche but they are important to ask. My only regret about the military is that I didn’t join sooner than I did.

The only reason i did it was to get out of town, for, well, let’s just say i had a few felonies i was running from.
Anyway, thankfully the out of sight, out of mind aspect of it, pretty much swept it under the rug over time so I’m grateful for that but past that, i would have been perfectly happy never going in
