That's how I remember ft. Sam when I went as a medic. Of course marines use navy corpsman.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss Germany. It's mostly mega-bases now so I'm sure it's much different. I miss the small kasernes in the middle of a German city.

I loved Ramstein but at times it was a bit much
but being a single E-4 living off base in downtown K-town was a fricking blast. Surprised my dick didn't fall off

When I was out there for our field training we had to carry whomever was the heaviest soldier on the liter for at least a good mile. The Air Force guys were shown how to pick it up without anyone on it and I never saw them carry anyone on it lol

That seems to be how most of the training was in regards to field training for the Air Force. Just give you an overview of what you may need to use, but not actually making you use it.

They were just starting to build the new PX when I left. Looked huge in the drawings. Our PX in Darmstadt was in an old horse stable.

Choose the branch by what you see yourself doing AFTER your military career is over.
example: if you like working on engines, join army/marines as a mechanic. Get as many certs as you can so that you can earn good $ outside working as a commercial equipment mechanic.
If you see yourself working in a plant, join the Navy as a Machinist Mate, or GSM.
like aviation but don't want to fix things, look at air traffic controller school in air force/Navy.
I served as an Electronics Technician, specialized in satellite communication. I parlayed that into a few jobs as a network engineer for telecom companies before using the GI Bill and attending LSU.
I now work in IT.
51 ASVAB isn't the best. But I knew guys who got 26's and still got in...I recommend taking it again if you can.
