The position he ran for, it was not an open seat right? I forgot. Did he run against Ted Cruz? Either way its hard to beat an incumbent. If he runs a good campaign now with the idea that he could possibly flip Texas would make him extremely valuable.
There could have been a lot of voters say "I am voting for Cruz because I supported him from the start, but if that Beto kid ever ran for something else, I'd give him my vote".
If he becomes the candidate for the democratic party then anything is possible (you have to remember, presidential races are not about getting all the idiots who will vote for party no matter what, its about getting the down the middle voters which the valuable voters).
Either way, I seriously doubt he gets to the next level. And like I said this could be a long term investment.
