The bonsai place is associated with Weyerhaeuser. It's called the Pacific Bonsai Museum. There is also a Rhododendron garden that I think you need to pay admission for, but I think the bonsai garden is free.

Not really. Sky View Observatory in Columbia Center is higher up and probably has a better view.
Space Needle is currently undergoing upgrades. However, you have Seattle Center that is built around it. It's fun to people watch. The atmosphere would be better than Columbia Center but shittier views.

I like the Space Needle at sunset. The combination of the sun setting, creating a silhouette of the Olympic Mountains in the West, while all the lights of the city come on, is pretty nice. I went to the Columbia Center only once during the day, but seeing it at the same time would be interesting.
In Vancouver go to Stanley Park and the Museum of Anthropology. One thing I liked doing in Vancouver was driving around North Vancouver, as if I recall, the scenery there was quite beautiful.
