Skip New Orleans. I hear Pound Town is much more enjoyable.

I didn't mean to be a dick (unless you are an employee or chef at Antoine's). It runs on name and they've mailed in the food for years. Actually that's being generous. They don't even pretend to care or try. It's a cool old building and has a lot of history, but you're paying $$$ for mediocre at best food. Every out of towner I talk to is disappointed. If you want to dine at one of NO's old famous places, Commander's and Galatoire's are far more worthwhile.

You may want to consult the F&D board for po boy recs. I like shrimp from parkway or Gus's and roast beef from R&O's.

TYVM for your opinions. I just checked the menu and

LINK

Does not do it for me.

Maybe I am looking for mom and pops cajun/creole. Not some fancy arse fish dish that I may not like.

If you are in town on a Wednesday between Thanksgiving and Christmas, go to Parkway and have the holiday po boy. It'll be the best thing you've ever put in your mouth. shite, it's probably better than anything Paige has ever put in her mouth.

All I know is that getting drunk at Beaches on New Year's Eve day and then eating chicken strips at Willie's Chicken Shack was a hell of a good way to waste an afternoon.

We had plenty of other great times down there but that chicken was perfect that day.

Pat O's for a Hurricane, Tropical Isle for a Hand Grenade, then Bourbon Bandstand next door. Most chicks like places like that and Razoo to dance at. I recommend go before it gets dark, because it usually gets dark.

yeah I second everyone saying spend the night.

You are inevitably going to get shite housed so you need to make plans for a place to stay.

New Orleans day trip screams "I'm too poor/cheap to pay for a hotel for a night."

Maybe they're a married couple just wanting to get away for a day.

And just not married to each other.

You can have a lot more fun if you stay in New Orleans. A day trip is pretty tame and lame, regardless of your desire to impress this woman.
