He said a large percentage in his first post which is correct Are there smart people in the military? Sure Do they make up the majority? absolutely not

True, but claiming to be "too smart" is where he went off the deep end.

You're not quite as intelligent as you think you are.

It's impossible to deny that a large amount of people join the military because college "wasn't for them". Not all, but a good bit. And by "wasn't for them" I mean they didn't have the grades. Sure there are many who are doing it for money to go to college, and some who just want to serve and are willing to forgo college. But that's not the majority.

I had a guy who graduated mechanical engineering with me then enlisted. Also know a few people who got into Westpoint and The Air Force Academy. All those guys are smarter than me (and that's saying something ), but that doesn't make me think for one second that the average IQ of the military is "high".

This is always military personnel that joined for all the wrong reasons, I'm sure..

They got in, found out it's not like the movies and is just a job (an important one, but a job nonetheless), and now they're pissed and trying to garner any of that praise and celebrity they thought was in store for them.

I caught a guy trying to steal valor a few days ago. He was sitting on a bus bench on college drive wearing a brmhs quiz bowl team hoodie. I knew for a fact he didn't earn that hoodie because I was on that team and he looked all raggedy. I asked him some trivia any novice quizler would know and about our win records and he didn't know. I tried to reclaim the hoodie but he chased after me and threw a bottle.

I know one. I grew up with him. Really, really smart guy. But also a total f-up who had no other options coming out of HS because he had just clowned off the whole time. Took the Navy's tests and they showed what was obvious to everyone who knew him - that he was brilliant. So he got into the Nuke program. And made it through. But once in, he'd do stuff like intentionally break his bones to avoid deployment (I know because he told me himself). Guy was a screw-off in the Navy just like he always was in regular life. Enlisted people just aren't the best and the brightest. Other than a few idealists like Pat Tillman, it's a way station for young men without other prospects.

Is this a joke/troll? If so it's funny.

If not, it is an insult to the Lord. Our military is not doing His work, they are doing the work of our politicians. All of whom are corrupted by campaign donations and promises of comfy jobs when they leave office.

And frankly, REMF are not heroes. Glad they are serving a role -- not going to call them heroes.
