States would be wise to put technical skills in their curriculum. We are facing a 25 year glut in this. We might be happy for all that illegal immigration here soon
Well, it is becoming a global issue.

China is facing this problem as more of the younger generations want to go to college/university over the manual labor that underpins their industries.

Same with India. Probably will have the same issue eventually with Mexico.

Illegal immigrants are here to be low wage labor. End of story. No benefits, under the table cash payments at minimal costs.

The whining about no skilled workers is a whine about no one wanting to work the trades for shite pay.

Its the same thing that happened in STEM with H1-B, the visas became a pipeline for reducing wages that had nothing to do with skill.

Infosys, Tata, etc. Exist to game the H1-B system and contract out tech jobs to Indian workers for pennies. They live 10 people deep in a tiny apartment and send whatever they can back home and have no bargaining power in terms of their pay. Same thing will be true of the illegal immigrants that will become field workers for Tyson chicken and Monsanto, along with other ag companies.

A completely shitty situation. Who wants to work that? They work it because they have no choice.

Because zoomers are fricking lazy.

The best part is watching new immigrants pass up white soy boys.

Hence why one could argue that illegal immigration is a good thing since it props up the bottom of the labor pool. Otherwise, tou get Alabama situations where they threaten to take 10% of a company's profits for hiring illegals, food rots in the fields, and they silently repeal the law

At the same time is also depresses wages.

Choose your poison.

Got that right....

Have called many a white American boy... I would be lucky if they even show up for a bid... Right now I have a mexican crew getting the job DONE...

Believe it or not.. You can see the difference if you look at Strippers... Cuban and Mexican stripper girls show up daily, on time, never spend a minute in the dressing room, work the stage and talk to new potential customers.. They wait at the door for them.

USA born American girls.. Miss work regularly, show up late all the time. Sit with their feet up and bitch about going on stage.. And say: "I don;t have to talk to any customers, my regular is coming in today and that all I am going to do."

It also puts massive downward pressure on wages, which benefit employers and not workers.

The war on poverty and the opening of the southern border are two of the main reasons wages don't keep up with inflation. The other is shitty monetary policy (Keynesians)

Immigration will be a tradeoff between "living wages" and affordable labor.

Because nowadays they want to be women; hence the trans phenomenon plaguing our lives.

We need to change our immigration policy is what it is. I'm not sure what the answer is butan easy way to get a work visa and have them paying taxes wpuld be nice. Remember, the key is that they are willing to do the work. Give them a legal status and maybe a tax break to the business and you might not depress those wages. The downside is that they are now subject to federal laws and will get things like benefits. We all know these businesses love cheap labor so they need to be population to use this poulation.

The point is, once you make them “legal” you can’t pay them the cheap wages anymore.

That is where your “illegal immigrants are needed” argument falls apart.

These businesses want them because they are cheap and can be paid under the table.

The minute you remove that, the businesses will move on to the next group of illegal immigrants.

They can be paid less because they aren’t within the system.

Then pay them a fair wage. They are not slaves, they are workers.

At one point I had 50 legal immigrants working for me. I paid them the same as I did my Americans.

Treat it like the J-1 program. Employers with need who can't hire American can petition for hiring immigrants, which gives them legal access and hopefully a legal means of becoming a citizen. Instead of hiring wholesale hands from Home Depot.

The current situation absolutely destroys the rule of law. Its astounding people support it.

Skilled labor workforce has been in decline for far too long

This is why we should stop trying to elevate the low and middle class peoples.

We need to make the barriers to college more difficult to keep those classes out and push them towards skilled labor

Agreed, but the reason many businesses want them is because they don’t have to pay them a fair wage, which depresses the wages for the entire industry, ultimately requiring the existence of illegal immigration.

It feeds off itself.

A fair wage is the wage an individual will accept a job and work for.

We pay fair wages.

Accurate. A former saints player was going to let me use his visas to bring girls for work. He explained they needed to be somewhat Americanized. Too much and they won't work. Too little and they will run off with the first guy who tips them $100

Again you guys are over estimating what an immigrant can do. Immigrants can work basic construction labor and then slowly learn something like bricklaying, roofing, carpentry, etc.

But immigrants will never be electricians, plumbers, etc. that require a certification and more involved work. At least not in the sense of immediately doing the job, they could immigrate and become a plumber after 10 years or so.

But do you really want an Indian guy or Guatemalan fresh off the boat coming to do your kitchen remodel?
